Beginning with 16th century sword making traditions for the Imperial House of Japan to arguably some of the finest cutlery produced today, Fujiwara Aritsugu and his name are still synonymous with fine blades. Celebrating a new book simply titled, “Aritsugu“, Kinokuniya Bookstore in Seattle is hosting a special presentation this weekend! A must see event for anyone interested in Japanese culinary arts and cutlery!
Get up close and personal with Chef Kashiba as he demonstrates the “Katsuramuki technique” (essential skill for all Japanese chefs), with his Aritsugu knife. Join Chef Kashiba and team Aritsugu for a special discussion of why Japanese knives are a key addition to any kitchen and how he chooses his Aritsugu knife.
Leading the event panel are the translators: PNWJETAA’s very own Asher Ramras and Monbusho Scholar: Michael Ramirez with special guest appearance by Chef Shiro Kashiba.
