The overture plays, trumpets blaring with gusto and the curtain rises on the roof of a Junior High School in Merry Japan during sunrise. A lone ALT strides upon the roof.

The ALT looks to the east (stage left) and sings.

From far Japan I hear your call!
And unto you I’ll give my all!

(A hip-hop beat kicks in and Japanese junior high students abseil from above the stage spitting dope rhymes).
Now, I’m very busy and I haven’t written the rest and I could use all the help I can get. So why don’t you come to the monthly JETAA meeting to help finish the story? We need your talent!

Come tread the boards with the PNW JETAA Council as we gear up for an exciting month!

Topics of discussion will include:

– Sakura Matsuri
– world record sushi rolling!
– And the legendary annual Iron Chef competition with Portland

Start warming up those vocals and praciting that choreography! We’ll see you all there!

But united, our amazing group of JETAA Super Friends will foil their fiendish plot by creating fun, incredible events for the upcoming year. Yes, our mighty league of justice once again convenes to plan and coordinate, and you can help!

Topics of discussion will include:

– A reenactment of the world record breaking sushi rolling
– And much more!

Whether you’re a Themyscirian warrior princess, billionaire playboy with a penchant for winged rodents, or heck, if you just enjoy talking to fish, lend us your aid in this matter! The fate of the world may depend upon it (ok, probably not, but it’ll be fun)!

Super Friends, away!!!!!

Seattle-Kobe Sister City Association’s 60th Anniversary!

Dear JETAA Friends,

A heartfelt 明けましておめでとうございます to all of you. I am sad that I was not able to celebrating with you at the 2017 Shinnenkai & Annual Meeting.

I’d like to ask you all to take a moment and remember the faces of people you met in Japan. The experience that binds us as JETs, I would contend, we owe to those people. Our students, coworkers, friends: The people of Japan are the core of our memories.

The organization I am honored to serve, the Seattle-Kobe Sister City Association, is devoted to the kinds of connections that JET strives to create: people-to-people connections. This year, we are celebrating our 60th anniversary.

All throughout the year, we will have numerous events and programs celebrating the friendship between Seattle and Kobe. If you are interested in learning more about our work, please visit us at   Numerous JETs work with us as volunteers, directors, and friends.

I wish you all the best in this new year, and look forward to building more connections with the people of Japan together with all of you.

President, SKSCA
