WALK FOR RICE was a success!

Hundreds gathered for the 17th annual Walk For Rice on June 16th at Seward Park in Seattle. The PNW JETAA team was out in full force with our bright red happi & musubi/sushi headbands! This year our team was 20 strong (including 2 new 2007 JETs Colin & Bin, Consulate staff, spouses and family members of Alumni and last but not least our unofficial mascot Sumi “the dog”. We were also well represented in the notoriety department having winners in two of the Walk’s competitions. New JET Colin Fishwick won the over all race for runners that day & blew any competition out of the water! – Congratulations Colin!

In the super hero dog costume contest, Sumi won for the 3rd year in a row, this year as “Iron Chef Sumi” fighting off hunger one musubi at a time! After the race about half the team met up at Tutta Bella for lunch & more sharing of experiences & advice with the new JETs.

Thanks to everyone who joined this year & helped to raise funds to support the Asian Counseling & Referral Service Food Bank! It was a big success & you can be proud to know that we helped in a very worthwhile cause in our community! Colin, Sumi & I were also featured on the news.
