Transitions 2012 (registration) is ten days away. For a simple seven dollars, you get:
- Speeches on human resources, resume tips, interviewing skills, the non-profit sector, personal and professional branding, and how to create an effective LinkedIn profile. Think: TED-like-talks times ten. Rob Uy and Steven Joiner are pairing up this year to give a joint presentation and Ryan Hart has taken his wisdom about professional / personal branding and will be applying it to your JET experience and LinkedIn
- Conversations with seasoned professionals on higher education, teaching, and choosing a career. There will be two round table sessions, one focused on education and the other on general topics. You get the chance to hear where others have gone and how they got there. Whether you’re in a good professional spot or not, this type of dialogue doesn’t happen everyday. Come take advantage of this time to chat with others who have made their own ways in a variety of fields.
- Special presentation on personal finance, which is a field we can never know too much about. This presenter is a JET Alum and will have a booth during the networking expo to give you additional time to chat about any lingering questions or concerns.
- Networking Expo with over a dozen vendors – they’re local non-profits, organizations, companies and universities. Come to exchange business cards and chat about their organizations and possible opportunities.
- Free lunch. Enough said.
Come on out! Even if you’re not in a “transition,” this event is still extremely relevant. Not much stays static these days – the economy, the job market, your interests, the Internet, your resume, and more are always changing. This day will provide a great chance to think about where you are, how you got there, and where you’d like to go.
