Thinking of applying to the JET program?
How to apply (deadline info and application options):
Click on this link to the Consulate-General of Japan
JOIN the PNW JET Alumni Association!
If you are interested in getting/staying involved with the local Japan-related community, join PNWJETAA and our Yahoo Group to get email updates on Japanese events in the local area including our own events! It’s an easy two step process!
First, if you are a former JET Program participant, you must complete an updated membership form. (PLEASE!) Our funds as a JETAA chapter depend on it! Fill out the Membership Form here.
Second, join our Yahoo Group, which we use to send email updates on JETAA events, local Japan-related events, job postings, and MORE! Just click the button below! (Note: You will have to create a yahoo email account though you can forward the emails to a non-yahoo email account.)
Here are some possibilities for JETAA involvement:
1) NOW: Volunteer to be on our e-mail JETAA resource list.
Each year Lynn Miyauchi, the local JET Coordinator gathers names of JETAA members who are willing to answer questions and share their experiences with potential applicants to the JET Program. Later in the year, these same volunteers act as resources offering advice on pre-departure preparation and life in Japan. Please contact her ASAP if you interested in volunteering!
2) Mid-September – Late-November: Recruitment
Help recruit potential applicants for the JET Program! We need volunteers to staff information tables/booths or give presentations at colleges and universities throughout our jurisdiction of Washington, Northern Idaho and Montana. Word of mouth is the most effective means of advertisement for the JET Program. Please help to spread the word about JET to as many qualified people as possible.
3) February – Interviews
If you are interested in helping with the screening process for new JETs, please contact Lynn in late December.
4) June – JET Training Session
Volunteer to help train the new JETs. We focus on “Life in Japan as a JET” and “Teaching on the JET Program”. Former CIR volunteers are especially needed to conduct CIR workshops. Also needed are JETAA members in Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho and Montana, who are willing to conduct informal gatherings to answer questions for new JETs living in those areas.
Stay Connected and Share Your Experiences! There are a lot of great, enthusiastic people in the alumni who you will meet! THANK YOU! We look forward to hearing from you soon!
